Fletcher Street Cottage launched Byron Women in 2025 to support the increasing number of women seeking help due to domestic violence, financial instability and homelessness. This initiative provides immediate, flexible assistance, including transport to safe locations, food vouchers and domestic violence support. Managed by Community Support Workers, the program swiftly addresses emergencies, ensuring vulnerable women receive timely life-saving support.

Funded through grants and by the community, this program empowers Fletcher Street Cottage to quickly address urgent needs. Domestic and family violence is one of the main reasons why women and their children experience homelessness. Our community's generosity enables us to provide life-saving support exactly when and where it's needed most.
Managed by our dedicated Community Support Workers, the program offers personalised support, connecting women with additional resources and services. Whether it's escaping a dangerous situation or covering urgent expenses, each women receives the help that best fits her unique circumstances.

Women's Afternoon is a weekly women-only afternoon, including access to showers, laundry, one-on-one support, specialist services, creative art activities and afternoon tea in a safe, welcoming space.

The Women’s Clinic offers access to a nurse onsite in a safe, welcoming and confidential environment. The clinic supports women experiencing homelessness or hardship with health checks, referrals to pathology, wound care and support for chronic health conditions. By bringing healthcare directly into Women’s Space, the clinic removes barriers to access and enables women to prioritise their health with dignity, trust and care.
The Primary Care Impact Grants Chronic Disease Prevention Program - Byron Community Centre Ltd Grant is funded by Healthy North Coast through the North Coast PHN Program and the Northern Rivers Community Foundation.
