Practical Upgrades Strengthen Support at Fletcher Street Cottage

Practical improvements at Fletcher Street Cottage are helping make the day support hub more functional and welcoming for the people who rely on its services.

A $30,732 grant through the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership 2025 program helped fund an electrical supply upgrade and new outdoor furniture at Fletcher Street Cottage.

The electrical upgrade increased the capacity of the existing system and provides essential infrastructure for planned kitchen and laundry upgrades. New outdoor tables and seating have improved the functionality of the outdoor area, giving visitors a more comfortable place to sit and connect.

“We’re pleased to see this grant support practical improvements at Fletcher Street Cottage. The electrical upgrade and outdoor furniture will help make the space more functional for the people who use it,” says Milli Acton, Grants Officer.

Fletcher Street Cottage provides practical support to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, including breakfast, showers, laundry, casework, advocacy and referrals.

“Fletcher Street Cottage is a place where people can access practical support and feel welcome. These upgrades help us make the most of our facilities and provide a more comfortable outdoor space for visitors,” says Damian Farrell, Manager of Fletcher Street Cottage.

Breakfast is an important part of the morning at Fletcher Street Cottage, offering visitors a place to eat and connect.

“The new outdoor furniture gives people a comfortable place to sit, enjoy breakfast and spend time together,” says Steve Strang, Breakfast Coordinator.
