Hope, Community Collaboration and Health Support
This week at Fletcher Street Cottage, we’ve been busy with exciting meetings, valuable partnerships and continuing our essential work supporting our community. Here’s a look at what’s been happening this week.
Highlights:
- We had a productive meeting with Brenda and Sue from the Anglican Church to discuss Hope 2025, an upcoming event aimed at instilling ‘hope in an uncertain world’. Fletcher Street Cottage is honoured to be the beneficiary of this fundraiser, which will take place on June 1st. More details will follow as the event approaches.
- We also met with the Lennox Head Lions Club to discuss the growing needs within our community. It’s encouraging to collaborate with such dedicated local organisations as we work towards solutions to support those facing homelessness and hardship.
- On Thursday, Tegan, our monthly volunteer hairdresser, was here again offering her time and skills to cut our clients' hair. Tegan has been providing this invaluable service to the community for over 10 years! We are incredibly grateful for her ongoing support of the most vulnerable members of our community.
- We attended the Local Leaders Group Meeting, where we’re planning an exciting community event in October. The event will showcase areas within our community that are in need of support, and we’ll be working together towards practical solutions to address these issues.
- Mary and Kate from NSW Health visited to discuss the upcoming Liver Clinic at Fletcher Street Cottage, scheduled for Friday 16th May. The clinic will offer free Hepatitis C testing, a condition that is curable and fully funded by NSW Health. This service will provide crucial support for those who may not otherwise have access to these essential health services.
- We also want to highlight the recent Listening Tour by PLACE, which visited Fletcher Street Cottage. It’s always inspiring to collaborate with organisations like PLACE, who are dedicated to improving our community through place-based solutions.
- This week, we were back to a full schedule of services, supporting over 246 people and providing over 200 breakfasts to ensure that our clients start their day with the support they need.
