Join us for a screening of the film The Message of the Lyrebird followed by a Q&A featuring the filmaker Mark Pearce.

This captivating film, produced by Balangara Films, offers a mesmerizing glimpse into the magical world of the lyrebird, an extraordinary creature that holds the secrets of Australia’s ancient forests in its song.

No other bird on Earth possesses the unique abilities of the lyrebird, and this documentary takes audiences on a profound exploration of its sophisticated artistry. From the lush Sherbrooke forest in Victoria to the picturesque landscapes of the New England Plateau in New South Wales, the film uncovers the lyrical mysteries of these avian wonders. As humanity delves deeper into the heart of nature, we are confronted with an urgent question: is the lyrebird now singing the melancholic tale of human encroachment?

The Message of the Lyrebird is not merely a film; it’s a call to action. Through the lens of this documentary, viewers will gain a deep understanding of the intricate interplay between nature and humanity. The film introduces a diverse cast of characters, including a scientist, a lyrebird sound recordist, a lyrebird keeper, an activist, and a Knowledge-Holder. Each perspective weaves a tapestry that emphasizes the crucial need to reconnect with wildlife, old-growth forests, the Earth, and The Dreaming, providing valuable insights into the delicate balance between human intervention and environmental preservation.

Directed by the talented Mark Pearce, this feature-length documentary promises an unforgettable cinematic experience. To enrich the viewing, there will be a post-film Q&A with our guest experts. This engaging discussion offers the audience a unique opportunity to interact with the creators and gain deeper insights into the film’s themes and messages.

Contributions from the event will go towards the local stage production "Displace I Call Home" and the film’s marketing and distribution outreach.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
