Byron is not just a place, it’s a feeling - a community that welcomes, supports and brings people together across cultures.
Tell us about your role at the Byron Community Centre
My role is Bookkeeper. I manage vendor payments, bank reconciliations, debtor analysis, tax lodgements and monthly closing tasks, along with regular responsibilities like bank recs, lease invoicing, payment runs, compliance lodgements, reporting support and ongoing communication with suppliers, debtors, and the team.
What’s the most inspiring part of your job?
I love sharing what we do and knowing that I'm part of something bigger than just my role. I'm also inspired by the amazing people who work and volunteer here. The Byron Community Centre is what it is because of the people - their talent, commitment, professionalism and strong sense of community. It’s a local organisation from Byron, which I love so much, but also a beautifully multicultural place that opened its doors - and its heart - to me.
I love my community because…
I love being part of a community - a group of people who share something in common, like Byron. There’s a strong sense of connection, of thinking about others and the beautiful idea that we are all one. Byron is not just a place, it’s a feeling - a community that welcomes, supports and brings people together across cultures. I feel lucky to call it home.
