27th April – 1st May 2026
This week at Fletcher Street Cottage we celebrated community generosity, growing connection and the importance of practical everyday support. Here’s a snapshot of what happened.
Highlights
- A big thank you to Patrick and Darby from Ticket Satisfies, who visited Fletcher Street Cottage to personally donate $300 and spend time connecting with the service. Community donations like this help us continue providing holistic support to vulnerable people across the Byron Shire.
- By the end of April, Fletcher Street Cottage had welcomed 817 visitors, including 26 new service users. These numbers highlight the growing need for safe, supportive spaces where people can rest, recharge and access practical assistance during difficult times.
- This week, we collaborated with the Mullumbimby Neighbourhood Centre and Public Space Liaison Officers from Byron Shire Council to review and strengthen behaviour and consequences protocols. Ongoing collaboration between local services helps ensure more consistent, supportive and effective responses across the community.
- One service user who had struggled for several weeks to set up his mobile phone was finally able to do so with support from staff. While this may seem like a small task, it reflects the very real barriers many people face when navigating systems and technology. Practical support like this can make a significant difference to someone’s independence, confidence and quality of life.
