Festival of the Stone, Women’s Space and Housing Success

16th – 20th February 2026

This week at Fletcher Street Cottage, we’ve been celebrating community generosity, strengthening support for women and seeing meaningful outcomes for those accessing our services. Here’s a snapshot of what happened.

Highlights

  • Stone & Wood announced that this year’s Festival of the Stone will once again support Fletcher Street Cottage through their InGrained Foundation. Ongoing contributions from local businesses and individuals help us continue providing essential services to our community and we are incredibly grateful for this support.
  • One of the women accessing our service received financial assistance from the Australian Chinese Charity Foundation. Through advocacy by our Community Support Workers, we continue to connect vulnerable community members with organisations that share our commitment to reducing inequality and supporting people in crisis.
  • Our team reflected this week on the growing strength of our Women’s Space, which continues to feel safe, cohesive and welcoming. Consistent attendance from service providers, volunteers and community members highlights the ongoing need for dedicated spaces that support women’s wellbeing and safety.
  • A service user received both physical and mental health support through our visiting GP and has since secured several job interviews and, importantly, safe accommodation.
  • Friday trivia brought laughter and connection during breakfast, providing a light-hearted moment for people to build relationships and feel a sense of belonging.
  • A man seeking legal support was able to sit with a Community Support Worker, connect with the right services and receive emotional support. This process helped him take practical steps forward and feel relief and renewed hope.
