Community Care, Creative Connection and New Partnerships at Fletcher Street Cottage

02 - 05 December 2025

This week at Fletcher Street Cottage we celebrated a special staff milestone, strengthened community connections, and continued providing essential care and support for people facing hardship. Here is what has been happening.

Highlights

  • We celebrated Suzanne's 3 years of working at Fletcher Street Cottage!
  • Jenifer led a Vintage Rajasthani-theme art space during the women's afternoon on Tuesday. Participants felt comfortable and engaged with the materials, sharing stories and strengthening their community bonds. The art space provides women with a chance to reflect and process their emotions and thoughts.
  • FSC participated in the By-list-name coordination meeting, part of the End Street Sleeping collaboration, where local services and stakeholders collaborate to develop strategies to assist community members who are vulnerable or unhoused.
  • On Thursday, the Amma Kitchen team prepared a delicious breakfast. Visiting services included the GP and the mental health team, HHOT, which provided physical and psychological support to our participants. Amma Kitchen Team
  • We also received a donation of handmade Tote bags from a community member. Tote Bags Donation
  • Resilience story: A man we've been supporting has been engaging with multiple services and making efforts to improve his circumstances. A key part of his resilience is his choice to stay sober, even when sleeping rough and facing harsh conditions where turning to alcohol might seem easier. Access to FSC provides vulnerable individuals in our community a safe space to reset and recharge, helping them to continue working on themselves; sometimes that means not giving up.
  • We launched an exciting partnership with Onebridge to establish a women's clinic that will be operational very soon. This service aims to assist vulnerable women who face difficulties accessing care, which will be provided by a nurse at FSC.
  • A big thank you to our new, wonderful laundry volunteers. Their contribution allows us to continue providing heartfelt care. Volunteers are essential to our operations, and we truly appreciate the collective effort of our community in creating a supportive environment where everyone helps each other.
  • Impact Story: A man seeking support at FSC to stop using drugs was successfully connected with essential services like his GP, Centrelink, and NA meetings. At FSC, he found refuge, support, and safety, and also received Emergency relief. He now returned to express gratitude for the service, has been sober for 14 days, and has secured a casual job, marking a positive transformation and a more hopeful outlook on his future.
