Clinical Nurse, Mental Health Training and Tote Bags

6th – 10th April 2026

This week at Fletcher Street Cottage we’ve been strengthening health partnerships, building staff capability and supporting women in crisis. Here’s a snapshot of what happened.

Highlights

  • We were grateful to welcome Alexander Rankin (far left), Clinical Nurse Specialist from NSW Health and part of the Social Futures outreach team. Alex supports vulnerable community members by providing medical care and helping to stabilise both physical and mental health.
  • Our collaboration with organisations such as NSW Health and Social Futures means people can access multiple forms of support in one safe and welcoming space. Working together ensures no one in our community faces hardship alone.
  • Fletcher Street Cottage staff and the Homeless Health Outreach Team came together this week to strengthen their approach when supporting service users experiencing mental health challenges. The session focused on de-escalation strategies and responding to complex situations, helping maintain a safe and supportive environment.
  • We supported a woman fleeing domestic and family violence to access essential services and begin rebuilding her life. She shared, “Having access to immediate supports helped me get through a very difficult time in my life.” Having a safe space and someone to talk to gave her the strength to move forward.
  • A big thank you to a generous community member who donated handmade tote bags this week. Donations like these provide practical support while also showing the care and connection within our community.
