A much-loved part of Byron’s community life is shifting closer to the sea. From Sunday 6 July, the Byron Community Market will temporarily relocate to Main Beach, while essential drainage works take place in the town centre.
Although the location is changing, everything people value about the market remains. Held on the first Sunday of each month, the market will continue to bring together stallholders, musicians, creatives and visitors in a celebration of Byron’s culture and community.
“We know how much the market means to people. It’s not just somewhere to shop, it’s where locals and visitors alike come to connect, share stories and enjoy the creativity this region is known for.” says Carl Taylor, Markets Manager at Byron Community Centre.
Set against the backdrop of Byron’s iconic coastline, the new Main Beach location offers a fresh setting for the market’s rich mix of handmade goods, local art, ceramics, fashion, fresh food and live music. All delivered with the same welcoming atmosphere.
“It’s a change, but it’s also a chance,” Carl adds. “We get to bring the market to one of Byron’s most beautiful spaces, while continuing to support our local stallholders, many of whom rely on this market each month.”
The relocation comes in response to Byron Shire Council’s infrastructure upgrades, which have temporarily impacted the market’s usual site in the town centre. By moving to Main Beach, the market can continue uninterrupted, ensuring consistency for both traders and the community.
The Byron Markets team is working closely with every stallholder to ensure the move is smooth, and that the character and creativity of the market continue to thrive.
The Byron Community Markets will be held:
