Preparedness for You, Free Disaster Readiness Workshop

A free practical workshop for renters, people experiencing homelessness and those facing housing insecurity

Feel like every piece of disaster advice you’ve ever been given was written for someone who owns their home?

Store supplies in your garage. Retrofit your house. Install solar. Save an emergency fund. For renters, people experiencing homelessness, or anyone in insecure housing, that advice often feels unrealistic and out of reach.

Preparedness for You is a free, three hour workshop designed specifically for people navigating housing insecurity in the Northern Rivers. It focuses on what disaster preparedness actually looks like in real life, offering practical, relevant strategies that work for your situation.

In this workshop, you will learn:
• Practical disaster preparedness strategies for renters, unhoused people and those in precarious housing
• Your rights as a tenant before, during and after a disaster
• How to build mutual aid and support networks in your community
• How to have your voice heard in local disaster planning
