Job description

Pay rate: $28.27 per hour.
Monthly Sunday Byron Community Market.
It is a split shift but also available as a single shift:
5.30am – 8.30am
2.30pm – 5.30pm

Position Summary

The Centre is the hub for many community programs in Byron Bay, home of the Byron Theatre and base for the management of the Byron Markets.

The purpose of the Market Site Crew is to provide support the Site Crew Team Leader and Market Manager on the market day by performing a variety of tasks to assist in the setup, pack down and operations of the market. This role is an integral part of the vibrant markets team which includes Markets Coordinators, admin staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and follow the values of Byron Community Centre within a collaborative and inclusive framework.
  • Assist Market Manager with operations such as;
  • Regular stall holder bump in and out logistics
  • Parking and vehicle monitoring during bump in and out
  • Stall holder parking monitoring
  • Assisting Site Crew Leader with market setup and pack down and maintenance including;
  • Marquee assembly and take down
  • Waste bin distribution and monitoring
  • Barricade/bollard/hazard tape installation and deinstallation
  • Amenities monitoring and restocking
  • Dining area set up and pack down
  • Flag and signage installation and take down
  • Water and power access on the day amenities maintenance and upkeep on the day grounds maintenance and general operations as they arise.

Job requirements

Essential Selection Criteria

  • Must be available first Sunday of the month and 3rd Sunday in Dec & Jan.
  • Confidence in a high paced, busy environment, working with a diverse range of people with competing needs and requests.
  • Physically fit enough to be lifting, walking and standing for the duration of the shift.
  • Highly organised person, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and use initiative independently.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems and deal with conflict fairly.

Desirable Selection Criteria

  • Experience in events.
