Founded in 2013, the Byron Bay Elder Beats have revolutionised the idea of healthy ageing using the transformative influence of drumming. This initiative has blossomed into one of Australia's most triumphant senior programs, highlighting the indisputable role of rhythm and music in the aging process. Their weekly sessions take place at the heart of Byron Bay at Byron Theatre.
Carl Taylor, Spaces Operations Coordinator, says:
We enjoy hosting the Byron Bay Elder Beats and their vibrant drumming sessions. It's a testament to our commitment to fostering community connections and creating a space where the beat of life continues to thrive.
What began as a modest idea for a Byron Community Centre program quickly evolved into something extraordinary. Sound Synergy Drumming became the medium through which these spirited seniors redefine ageing gracefully.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the Byron Bay Elder Beats is their inclusivity.
Carl adds:
Whether you're a seasoned drummer or have never touched a drum before, the Sound Synergy team has designed these sessions to cater to all skill levels, ensuring everyone can find their place in this harmonious circle.
The Byron Bay Elder Beats meets at the Byron Community Centre and Theatre every Monday from 10.30am (until December 11th, 2023), for $15 per person. For more information, contact Gareth at [email protected] and check the website: https://www.soundsynergy.com.au/
