Southern Cross University

sculogoSouthern Cross University occupies a major space on the first floor of the Byron Community & Cultural Centre. The University uses the space for classes, workshops professional development courses and other activities. It is also a shopfront open to the community.

Southern Cross University offers world class degrees with a strong industry focus in business, environmental and health sciences, Indigenous studies, education, law and a broad range of the arts. The University attracts students from more than fifty countries to its four campuses where they can take advantage of a high quality learning experience and the exceptional quality of life offered in the Northern Rivers region.

The University has a dynamic research profile, participating in seven National Co-operative Research Centres and leading the way in disciplines as diverse as plant genetics and cetacean research.

Establishing a physical presence in Byron Bay is part of the University's ongoing commitment to provide a range of services and opportunities in the region. The space is also available for hire.

BayFM Community Radio

bayfmlogoBay FM 99.9 Community Radio was established 19 years ago and has grown to become the pulse of the town. Originally situated in the Love Shack on Butler Street, the station soon outgrew those humble digs. In 2006 Bay FM officially moved into its brand new premises located on Level 1 at the Byron Community Cultural Centre (Fletcher Street entrance).

Northern Rivers Writers' Centre

writer_centre_logoThe Northern Rivers Writers' Centre is a resource and information base for readers and writers in the region and has an office in Byron Bay. It is responsible for a year round program of readings, workshops and writer visits, as well as the Byron Bay Writers Festival which is held in late July every year.

Planet Corroboree Aboriginal Art

planetcorroboreelogoPlanet Corroboree is an Australian Aboriginal commercial art gallery located in the Byron Community Cultural Centre. The gallery was created 3 years ago as an outlet for the local indigenous artists to be recognised, respected and financially supported. The art is sourced directly from the artists and their families, or from businesses who engage in ethical trading with Australian Aboriginal artists. The range of Australian Aboriginal Art is diverse, and includes paintings, didgeridoos, boomerangs, homewares, music, clothing and literature.
