Cringe the Binge is a grass roots initiative that aims to reverse youth binge drinking trends that result in five young Aussies dying each week from alcohol-related causes. We believe this is a tragedy, and largely preventable. Cringe the Binge seeks to support young people make good choices around alcohol and “Binge on Life not Booze”! Our cheeky Cringe the Binge posters – designed to engage young people on some of the dangers associated with intoxication – recently won the 2013 Australian Marketing Institute National Excellence Award for “Marketing on a Shoestring Budget”. Jump on our website and download them for free!
The theme we are promoting is “Mix it up with Mocktails” to avoid intoxication. It will include a performance by the beautiful Lisa Hunt, the amazing local talent of Byron Youth Theatre Group and also Mayor SImon Richardson will be mixing up the mocktails for the media. Food and drinks will be prepared & served by our group of hospitality students and their TAFE tutors, and we are partnering with other groups in our community including Santos Organics, SCU, SAE, TAFE, Last Drinks @ 12, Byron Council and the Byron Community Centre.
We look forward to seeing you there and being part of the change to reverse youth binge drinking!
